Here's Rocky!

Here's my pup rocky. He got his 3 year rabbies shot today. Here are the questions they asked:
1. Male or Female (If you saw him standing there would be no question) He's male. :D
2. Is he neutered? Another question that doesn't need to be asked if you saw him standing. hahaha
3. (And my personal favorite) Does he weigh more than 20 pounds? Oh dear. It's scary isn't it. I felt like I was on candid camera. I just know there must be a hidden camera somewhere. HA!

Snow Day

We woke up to snow this morning. There isn't a whole lot of it but they cancelled school. :D It can't be more than 2 or 3 inches. I was surprised but happy that the girls get to stay home today. It's supposed to switch over to all rain this afternoon. I hope it switches over before I have to take Kristen to the doctors. It doesn't look too bad to drive in but I have a long way to go to get there.

These bumps are from some grasses and weeds. Enough already with the tests. Have you ever had a mosquito bite but couldn't scratch it? Imagine that 10 times over.

My previous visit they tested me for food allergies, which is why I went in the first place. The list of foods I can't eat is very long. Among them, my favorite watermelon. :( I have to avoid all of the melons including honeydew and cantaloupe. I can't have almonds or fresh green peppers. I should avoid fresh tomatoes but cooked is fine. No pears, apricots, plums or fresh apples..... :( :( :( No avacados. Which leads to a latex allergy. I know things could be worse so I won't complain.

More allergies :(

I made a second trip to the allergist today. This time they were testing me for additional allergies. See all of those nasty red bumps? Most of those are reactions to tree pollen. A few are reactions to grass. It itched so bad. It was maddening. This helps to explain the terrible headaches I get in the early Spring months.

I was able to get a picture of this Downy Woodpecker on our suet feeder today. It was right outside the window so I got a nice close-up view.

Kristen's Oil Painting

Kristen finished an oil painting that is yet untitled. She

hasn't tried oil painting since she was a little girl. It's amazing what a talent she has. She took the painting into school today and the teacher wants it for the art show in May.

Here's a link to The Crochet Corner Newsletter by Cylinda Matthews:

She featured my Valentine Crinoline Doily in her January 2008 issue. :D:D:D

I found this heart doily chart on Picassa. I've also added my version using 1/4" red ribbon.

Valentine Treats

Here are the brownies that Kristen decorated. They made a perfect after dinner treat.

Happy Valentine's Day

Tomorrow is the big day, Valentine's Day. I won't be making anything fancy since I'm recovering from the flu and I don't have the energy for a whole lot of fuss. But, I will make heart shape brownies with my youngest daughter for a sweet after dinner dessert. Very simple and quite tasty!

In the meantime, here's a link for a wonderful Valentine crochet doily:

I added my own version of the doily above. It is very quick to make.
