These are my first cockatiel babies and although they are not my oldest birds they are my second and third oldest. The white bird is Betty and the gray pied is Bud. They are sweet birds and very attached to each other and preen each other a lot. They are about 9 years old.

Our Day

I took Kristen bowling today. It was nice to get her out and about. She had a nice time. We goof around and get silly in the bowling alley. hee hee

When we got home we made up the treat bags for Halloween. :P

Halloween Party Mice

Kristen and I made some mice for the Halloween party the kids are having tomorrow night. These are fun and easy to make. I haven't made them since the kids were little. They are older now but love this. You're never to old for a mouse cup cake I say. ;D I'll post some pics of the party. ;D It should be fun for them. They are very particular about the friends they have and the ones they have are very nice. :D

This most unusual sight is a few miles from Stockton College in Pomona, New Jersey. I drove by this many times and it looked like old coke bottles all along the fence. I stopped one day to take a closer look (and a picture) and was surprised to find that they weren't old coke bottles at all. lol. I guess they are some sort of solar energy thingy. I would love to know. If I ever see someone in the yard I will stop to ask. I must know!!

Kristen's Pumpkin

We picked up a couple of pumpkins at one of the many farmer's stands that line the White Horse Pike on the way to Stockton College. Kristen picked this one out and promptly sat down and did this painting on it. ;D It only took her about 20 minutes to paint. She intends to paint some more on it so I will update the pictures later.

"The" Mushroom of all Mushrooms

Can you believe that this is a mushroom? Look at the size of it!! I didn't measure it but if you look at the leaves of the plant in front of the 'shroom, you will get an idea. I'm going back with a measuring tape to get the size. I ran into a lady who lives nearby and she said that she sees deer regularly and a fox is also found of this area. Maybe they eat the 'shrooms? The woods are so peaceful, I love it.

Funny Sign

We saw this sign while browing the stores in the Farmer's Market. hee hee Maybe they should reword this one?

Another Play

This was from another play that Kristen wrote. Written, filmed, finished, except for editing.

Erin's painting

This is Erin's painting of Mt. Rainier. She painted it because she really, really, really wants to be near her Aunt Dodi and Uncle Tom who live in Washington. She got an honorable mention for this one. It is an awesome painting and is hanging in my living room. It gets lots of compliments and is so very beautiful!!

Kristen's Painting

This is Kristen's painting from the art show. My favorite part is the hand holding the fan. Hands are hard to draw/paint to begin with. She has really captured it......the shadows..........the foreshortening........perspective.........the works!

Erin's sketch

Here is a sketch that Erin had in the art show. It's a big size, 18" X 24". It's so realistic looking! 2 years in art school has really paid off. ;D

Kristen's water color

This is a water color that Kristen made for the art show. I think it's fabulous! She has a great eye for color and her rendering of the glass vases and bottles is perfection. ;D

Hermit Crab

The student art show was last Friday. Here is Erin's hermit crab sculpture and drawing. She won an honorable mention for the sculpture.

This is Erin with Susan K., her mentor at the NHS function the other night. Erin as a senior member picked someone to honor. It was a wonderful ceremony. It was sweet and tearful. Hearing the stories of the young men and womens mentors was very moving. There was also an induction ceremony for the newly elected members.

Walk-A-Thon Ladies

Here we are on Walk-Thon-Day. L to R: ABA, Erin & Me. It was a 2 mile walk. But we walked there and back and wound up walking 6 miles total. It was fun. :D

New Blog

I decided to start another blog this time about genetic engineering. Rather than post about it here I thought it would be better to keep it separate as it's something I'm very passionate about. I could go on and on about it! If you're interested in learning more about what's being done to our food supply simply click on the link to the left, "The Dangers of Genetic Engineering". Be careful what you eat today to preserve your health for tomorrow. I'm working on "My Story" to explain to you why I feel so strongly about what's happening and how it has affected my health.

This is one of my favortie cartoons.

Here is an ornament I made from Haas Designs. I love his patterns. This was made with size 30 thread that was given to me by a dear friend. (Hi Lisa!) :D The edging is made with 2 strands of gold sewing thread crocheted together. I changed the edging just a bit from the pattern to suit myself. ;D I used a size 11 steel hook.

http://www.hassdesign.com/FiletCrochetDesigns/IP/FreePatterns/

They also have some wonderful free patterns here.

Here is a doily I recently finished called Treasured Bouquet. It wasn't hard to make but took a while because of all the motifs. And with the color changes there were a lot of ends to weave in. Still, I like it. It's made with cream, peach & green thread. Size 7 hook. It's 10 1/2". This would be very pretty continuing to make motifs around for a round table.

Genetically Modified Food Not Labeled in the U.S.

This is a real problem. Please read:

Here is my four legged friend, wishing against all hope, that while the lamb cake was being made perhaps a drop of icing may fall his way. Oh that a jelly bean might roll onto the floor and make his dreams come true. He waits.....................and watches.

The girls had an Easter get together yesterday. There were 9 kids, 8 in this picture. They laughed and joked and played DDR and Apples to Apples and Imagine If from 1 o'clock to 11 p.m. They are a great group of kids. I must say, my daughters have great taste in friends. Everyone is really nice.

Easter Lamb Cake

My girls made a lamb cake for Easter. These photos show the front and the back view of the cake.
It was made with vanilla cake and was
delicious. What is that strange thing on the
front of the lamb cake? It's an ipod of course!
:D :D :D :D

These are some "bead buddies" that the girls made. Erin made the bead people and Kristen made the bead mermaids. They are very tiny, made with seed beads and are quite precious!

Kristen painted this egg so beautifully. She used a toothpick to paint it. :D I want to get a cover for it to protect it. The yoke is blown out so the shell is fragile. I love it!

Sunshine Medley

This is a doily I just finished called Sunshine Medley. It's 27" and made with a size 7 hook. I used a soft green, a sunny yellow, white and a varigated orange. It worked up pretty fast. It was made from a chart and since they are so easy to follow, that is, you don't have to read the directions, I got it done fairly quickly.

Erin was chosen as one of 4 girl senior girl scouts to be an escort for the Women of Distinction for 2008 by the Girl Scouts of Southern and Central New Jersey. She was paired with Candace Kelley and met her in February and learned all about her career path and her life. She's a very sweet lady. She's a

host and producer for CN8's "Comcast Newsmakers" and is a commentator, writer and reporter. She lectures and has made appearances on Extra, CN8, The Russ Parr Show and WBLS in New York City. She's also a correspondent for Black Entertainment Television. She writes a column called "Closing Argument" that covers legal issues within pop culture. She anchors the PBS affiliated series "Another View". You can see her on Another View by clicking here: http://www.njn.net/television/webcast/anotherview.html

Her writings and research have earned her five Emmy nominations and four Telly Awards.

She's writer for the legal publication Lawcast. Also she is a professor at Rowan University where she teaches broadcast journalism courses and Communications Law. She is one busy lady!!

Candance was honored by the girl scouts with the Women of Distinction Award last night at the Tavistock Country Club. We were honored to sit at a table with Candace and her beautiful family. Erin went up to the podium and gave a short talk about Candace and then presented her with her award. It was so much fun!

With the warm weather comes the crocus. I spotted these beauties and ran outside to take a picture. Then Rocky promptly lifted his leg so he could "own" the crocuses. He "owns" a lot of the back yard. ;D

Erin

Here's my darling Erin while we were on our walk yesterday. It was so warm outside. It went up to 57 degrees. It was sweet. ;D

Erin and I went on a walk yesterday. I stepped on a piece of glass and it wedged itself in the sole of my shoe. The shoes are really thick but that darn piece of glass poked all the way through. Luckily I have a thick insole in the shoe and it didn't poke through to my skin. I couldn't walk with the shoe on until we got the glass out. I broke off a piece of it thinking that I could get it flush with the bottom of the shoe but after breaking it it looked like this picture on the left. Finally we bent the shoe in half and I pushed from the inside where the glass was poking through and Erin took a stick a was able to push it aside and out. On the right is what it looked like after removing it. What a freaky thing to happen!

Here's Rocky!

Here's my pup rocky. He got his 3 year rabbies shot today. Here are the questions they asked:
1. Male or Female (If you saw him standing there would be no question) He's male. :D
2. Is he neutered? Another question that doesn't need to be asked if you saw him standing. hahaha
3. (And my personal favorite) Does he weigh more than 20 pounds? Oh dear. It's scary isn't it. I felt like I was on candid camera. I just know there must be a hidden camera somewhere. HA!

Snow Day

We woke up to snow this morning. There isn't a whole lot of it but they cancelled school. :D It can't be more than 2 or 3 inches. I was surprised but happy that the girls get to stay home today. It's supposed to switch over to all rain this afternoon. I hope it switches over before I have to take Kristen to the doctors. It doesn't look too bad to drive in but I have a long way to go to get there.
